We recommend that your child trials Beaver meetings for 3- 4 weeks before deciding whether they would like to commit themselves to Beaver scouting. Therefore we suggest to parents that they should not buy the uniform straight away, but wait until their child is invited to become invested.
We also recommend that parents set the expectation with their child that they are going to be left with the leader (who will sensitively encourage them to join in), rather than promising to stay with them. We can assure you that your child will have constant support in their first meetings and that 1hour 15 mins goes very quickly!
Investment is a ceremony in which the new Beaver wears his/her uniform and makes his Beaver Promise to the Beaver Scout Leader. At this ceremony the new Beaver receives their neckerchief, woggle and joining badges. Following investment a new Beaver joins a particular pack within the Beaver colony and is considered a fully-fledged Beaver.
